A 14 YEAR-OLD boy from Chief Bota in Zaka has appeared in court charged with raping his five year-old sister.
The teenager pleaded guilty when he appeared before magistrate Lyn Manyika who remanded him to March 18 for judgement.
The court heard that, sometime in August last year, the teenager returned from school and found his young sister at home in the company of their grandmother, Matizireni Machimbira.
Prosecutor Mukai Mutume said the boy decided to go to his bedroom for a nap and called his sister to join him.
According to Mutume, the boy then started raping the little girl but was court in the act by the grandmother who, however, did not report the case to the police.
The abuse only came to light when one of the little girl’s teachers noticed that she had some difficulty in walking.
The alert lady teacher interviewed her and she revealed her ordeal.
Police were called in and the girl was taken to hospital for a medical examination which confirmed the rape leading to the brother’s arrest.
