Dr Peter Maluleke* (32) is never satisfied with having just one woman in his life. He says there should always be a “side dish to complement the main dish” – the main dish being his wife.
The gynaecologist, who has been married for five years, says life would be boring without a side chick.
He acknowledges that he loves his wife dearly and has no intention of leaving her, but says he needs that additional partner who will bring adventure to his life.
“It’s about fun and pleasure. I don’t go out looking for a side chick, but always find myself with one. When the fun runs out, I end it and move on,” he says.
Maluleke says he has no financial obligations to the women, preferring to date those from the “upper middle classes” who won’t depend on him for cash. A recent mistress was also married.
“I don’t date kids. They get clingy,” he says.
However, Maluleke admits that keeping his side chicks secret is not always fun.
“You always have to be alert and make sure that you erase any evidence of cheating from your phone. Both the wife and the side chick demand my time and energy and it can be very tiring sometimes,” he says.
Despite this, Maluleke says he does not think he will stop having extramarital affairs anytime soon.
“It’s human nature,” he says. “Men are born like that … we are never satisfied with what we have.”
As a doctor, Maluleke is aware that having multiple sexual partners increases the risk of contracting HIV. But it doesn’t bother him that much because, he says, he always protects himself and those he loves.
“I believe in the philosophy that every person is HIV positive until proven otherwise, so I use a condom religiously.”
Though Maluleke has lost count of the number of extramarital affairs he’s had, he says he’s never been caught, because he plays his cards right.
“You don’t contact me; I contact you. If you break the rules, I end the relationship.”
