Business-rogue Phillip Chiyangwa’s daughter and church renegade, Stephanie, has started her own church ministry. Fresh from raking away thousands of pounds from UK residents through a fake book launch, Stephanie has crossed into Christianity now announcing herself as a Bible preacher.
In November 2013 Stephanie made people pay hundreds of pounds each for a function she claimed she was launching a book she had written and Econet boss Strive Masiyiwa would attend but it was all false.
She is also known for making threats on Zimbabweans in the UK telling them to watch their future. She has also fired threats at ZimEye journalists over a story which revealed how her father recently obtained a dodgy doctorate degree certificate in the Philippines.
“You wrote an article saying my father … is a bogus person, why did you write that story? … You must care about your future,” she randomly shouted a few days before her function held on the 2nd November 2013.
This time Stephanie has started her own church ministry calling it Stephanie Chiyangwa Ministries. On her website, she has a list of functions it says she will be preaching. In photos she is seen in gatherings “ministering” to small crowds. When confronted with criticism, Stephanie rushed to defend herself saying she has not started a church at all but has launched a para church.
“I am not starting a church,” Stephanie who herself does not attend church, said in what has been alleged to be a frantic attempt to ward off negativity.
Hundreds of Zimbabweans however say they are not convinced and charge that she could be a religious crook due to her bad reputation in many local churches in the UK.
Wrote one Zimbabwean, “If you were a child of Bishop Bismark, the late Rev Chiweshe, Pastor Shana or Pastor Gatsi I would pay attention Steph, but nah, your family has too many issues. Fix up your family first and then come back, foundation is everything. Who laid hands on you to annoint you? Who are your spiritual fathers? Hatidi vana vaSceva, this isn’t novelty, have you even read the Bible from start to finish?,” they said.
