A 20 year-old man has been arrested and remanded in custody facing charges of raping his 16 year-old girlfriend on their way home from a grinding mill in February this year.
Prosecutor, Memory Ndudzo, said Ngonidzashe Gore of Makanyasingwe village under Chief Svosve, was asked by his girlfriend from the same village to accompany her to the grinding mill and he agreed.
However, on the way back and at a secluded place, Gore asked the girl if she could be intimate with him but she refused.
A persistent Gore then grabbed the girl by force and raped her once.
This made the girl to report the matter to her mother who in turn filed a complaint with the police leading to Gore's arrest.
Mashonaland East regional magistrate, Clever Tsikwa remanded Gore in custody to a later date for trial.
