At the time when Kariyangwe High School girls in Binga are accused of immoral behaviour, it has emerged that one of the girls in madly in love with an elder man who is a friend to a local maize dealer allegedly behind the alarming abuse of girls contrary to current calls in which it is being discouraged for young girls to engage into sexual activities of early marriages.
Sources from Binga said just a few days after a bizarre incident where pupils started showing their readiness engaging in reckless sexual behaviours, another scandalous act has been exposed at this same school recently.
"A girl from Manjolo area has been discovered to be in a affair with an unnamed man who is a friend to a local maize dealer only identified as Wilbert. Wilbert has been fingered in a scam involving a school pupil (Patience)," said the source close to the school. "The guy is said to have taken the girl to Lusulu, where they had a joyful night together, before she brought her back.The girl is said to have lied to her guardians, that she visited her relatives who relocated to that area some years back."
The source said such rowdy behavior by the school pupils tells it all why the school has the highest number of dropouts,in the district,due to pregnancies.
"Such incidences are disturbing to teachers who had been thought of and fingered of; "Catching fish Breams in a prohibited area" said the source. "Some nurses from a local mission hospital once addressed the teachers, threatening to sue them over such issues because of mere hearsay.This particular nurse identified as John Dimbira, a Border Gezi graduate , had been made to make an apology after the teachers denied to be subjected to false claims by this 'Taliban guy.'
He said now that there are no teachers involved in this scam, these guys must be not ashamed of their address to teachers?
"Will it be wrong for the teachers to take legal action against these nurses" said the source. "Where are the local leaders when all this dirty is taking place? Should the police allow this to continue like this? Why should we continue claiming that we have a police base when it has been nastily turned into a "Brothel" by notorious police details?"
The source said deploying female police officers,alone,to the base can be a lasting solution on police' side.
"In 2011,three police officers married school children and nothing was done," said the source. "Truly, if we are a country with laws,then something has to be done.The community has been seeing this for quite some time but surprisingly, they are mum on the issue. Is it because their children are involved or what?"
The source said pupils have no protection,they are exposed to all forms of abuse and this kind of problem will keep on surfacing until and unless a lasting solution is found.
