MANY people have often wondered how a person of my background who lived the greater part of his childhood in an orphanage home and who lived a life of deprivation, unexposed to the privileges of life, has been able to achieve so much in such a relatively short time.
They are astonished by how I have come to speak on behalf of a party as historically significant as ZANU-PF, how President Mugabe who is idolised by many millions across the world has been able to have so much confidence in my capabilities.
It is no small thing to be appreciated by an icon like President Mugabe and, frankly, if I was not a spiritual person I would have wondered what is going on myself. But I am an incredibly spiritual person and I have an explanation for every single thing that has happened in my life — good and bad.
And there is only one word to describe it: God. I have seen God do incredible and amazing things in my life. He protects me, guides me, covers me, blesses me, favours me and the list goes on. And that is not because I deserve any of it. Just that he is a merciful God, a gracious God. He is the God that looks after the orphans and the widows. It is due, in no small measure, to the fact that I am fortunate enough to be under the anointing of one of God’s greatest representatives on earth — Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa.
There are people, not more than five, whom I genuinely and strongly believe God sent my way to perform specific tasks in my life. President Mugabe is one. Prophet Makandiwa is definitely another. His humility is unparalleled. His character exemplary. He lives by very high standards and is so enormously precise in his dissection of the gospel. What a preacher, what a prophet, what a human being. I had tried every possible church before my encounter with Prophet Makandiwa and never once felt a sense of belonging.
And so I just eventually gave up looking for God and went for several years without visiting a single church. You can imagine how dangerous that is for any one. A day spent without God is frightening; I went for years without a personal relationship with God. And then eventually in 2013 I attended a service in Belvedere where Prophet Makandiwa was invited to preach at a business conference.
He spoke for close to three hours but it felt like I was there for 30 minutes. I have never left him since and there is not a day that goes by without me looking forward to attending the next service.
That he is an amazing miracle worker is beyond question. I have seen people in church, virtually on their death beds, rising up and walking instantaneously. What God is doing through that man is simply inexplicable.
My dream is to be like him one day and I mean in every respect. But most significantly I hope to be able to pray exactly like he does for 10 hours non-stop. I am getting there slowly but surely because presently I pray at least 13 times a day, as soon as I wake up, once every hour and just before I go to bed.
‘‘The counsel I have personally received from him about life and politics and spiritual matters is among the most valuable and insightful I have received. He is just such a remarkable man, a true giant of the gospel, a wonderful and warm human being.
