Sungura Artist, Peter Moyo says people should not compare him to his late father, Tongai Moyo, ahead of his second album launch. Peter told his fas at Mbizo Inn in Kwekwe over the weekend that, ” Peter and Tongayi are totally different people.”
“Don’t compare me with my father, takatosiyana though he was my father. There is no way I can do what he used to do,” eh said amid applause from fans.
The entertainer, best known as Young Igwe in music circles said this after sampling some of his songs off the upcoming album titled Masimba aMwari.
The launch date has since been moved to September 4 but at the same venue-7 Arts Theatre.
And contrary to the biblical saying that a prophet has no honour in his hometown, Peter Moyo is much appreciated in Kwekwe.
Fans went wild and shouted some words of encouragement and praise to their own icon when he sampled one of the songs, Samasimba, off the forthcoming album
“The support is good, it’s good to be appreciated in your hometown. I am happy that people are appreciating my new songs,” he said on the sidelines of the show.
Showbiz watchers however believe Peter’s second album is a swim or sink situation for him.
Music promoter, Cosmas Daka of Cossy rules said time for sympathy had passed and it was now time for Peter to prove his mettle.
