The 32-year-old man Grey Mupinganjira who was arrested after being found in possession of a black mamba has appeared in court.
Mupinganjira of Malawian origin has been charged for contravening Section 59 (2)b of the Parks and Wildlife Act after he was found in possession of the snake without a licence.
He told the court that he owns the snake and was surprised why he is being charged. He told Harare magistrate Elija Makomo that he inherited the snake from his late mother who allegedly got it from Malawi.
Mr Makomo advised that Mupinganjira be examined by two medical doctors.
However, Mupinganjira insisted that he does not suffer from any mental illness.
Earlier, the man was interviewed by ZBC and he said the snake is a tool in his divination trade.
