Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa, in trying to distinguish grace (nyasha) from mercy (tsitsi) in one of his sermons, he gave the following example (paraphrased by me):
"When you steal someone's $1000 and gets caught up and sentenced to serve two years in jail, then one day after serving just two months the complainant comes to see you in jail and asks you, 'But why did you steal my money?'. Then you answer him back and say, 'I was not working and my family had gone for three days without eating anything, and as a father I became desperate to save my family, though in a bad way'. Upon hearing this you hear the complainant saying, 'I forgive you, but please don't do it again next time'. After this you hear the complainant asking the prison authorities to free you immediately, and you get so much overwhelmed with excitement and repeatedly kneel to thank the complainant. That is what we call MERCY (TSITSI) because the complainant has felt pitiful for you because of your desperate situation, and decided to extend his hand of forgiveness.
Distinguishing Grace From Mercy - By Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa |
If you can still explain it then its GOD'S MERCY (TSITSI DZAMWARI) upon your life, but when you begin to get confused and don't even know where to start, whether to cry or smile, whether to shout or pray, whether to kneel down or stand, then you just have to know this is GOD'S GRACE (NYASHA DZAMWARI).
