THE trial of a self-confessed hooker, Melody Hamandawana, charged with robbing Gokwe magistrate Shepherd Munjanja, started yesterday, with the woman denying the allegations, saying the complainant was her long-time client, who just wanted to escape paying for her services.
Hamandawana said Munjanja, on the day in question, asked for the fee of a “short-time” sex session before she took him to her flat at Trecelli Court in the capital.
“I told him I charged $10 for short time and he negotiated for $5, which I agreed to, but when we got to my room, he said because he had a small manhood, he would get an erection after a blow job, which I did on him,” she said.

She further told the court that Munjanja had entrusted her with his wallet, car keys and a Vodafone tablet until he settled his bill.
Munjanja, on the witness stand, said he was duped by a young man, who pretended to sell tyres and took him to the flat, where he was assaulted and robbed of his possessions.
Handawana, in cross-examination, asked Munjanja whether he had seen any garage or shops in the vicinity of the flat or there were only semi-naked women soliciting for clients.
To which he responded: “I only saw vehicles parked outside and that there was a car wash.”
The answer seemed not to convince presiding magistrate, Vakai Chikwekwe, who asked the witness directly if there were any shops in the vicinity of the flat.
Munjanja responded that there were no shops or garages.
The trial is set to continue on Tuesday with the second State witness in the matter taking to the stand. Venancia Mutake is prosecuting the case.
