Church members at Pastor Paul Sanyangore’s Victory World International nearly exchanged blows last Sunday after traces of a pesticide were found near the pastor’s drinking water and other refreshments.
This reportedly disrupted his birthday celebrations on the day sending many into panic that they were reluctant to eat the cake and taking drinks.
Close sources told H-metro that the man of cloth abandoned the church service before reading the riot act to his close aides and some have since been relieved of their duties following the skirmishes.
It is said the aides and his security personnel were at each other ‘s throats threatening pointing fingers at each other.
“It was some sort of pesticide that was found near his water .Sanyangore asked for water and his two aides brought the case of water and he asked them where they had gotten the water.He just said this water had been tempered with.
“He asked his senior security personnel to investigate and that is when he discovered a poisonous substance where the water and some refreshments were.
“Vakapotsa varwa ,vakati hapana anobuda muchurch mapurisa asati auya,” said the source.
Asked for comment Sanyangore initially professed ignorance before confirming the incident.
“Who told you about that ?”he asked before hanging up.After a further probe ,Sanyangore confirmed the incident but dismissed claims that he had bolted out of church.
“That was an in-house matter and I told my people not to tell anyone ,I guess they are not listening to me.
“I did not fire them but I just sat with them and advised them to be always alert ,”he said.
“I did not abandon the church service,I just maintained my composure and assured the congregants that nothing was wrong with the cake.
“Yes there was chaos among the aides as they tried to establish the source,” he said.
Asked who could be after his life ,the man of cloth described the people as agents of the Devil.
“You know it is surprising at times that I get calls from people asking if I am still alive.
“Sometimes I get reports from people who say I have died in an accident.Last week it was said I have died in an accident in Southerton ,hanzi pamabank coming from our new church base.
“This time around some people got messages that I have died of food poisoning ,how and where it originated from remains a mystery ,”he said.
He added,”I believe that is a spiritual matter and I was shown the person and the name.I had a dream and a prophecy years back that someone would poison me on my birthday and I did not know when it will be ,but thank God he showed me.
“I believe these are the people always after prophets to prove their powers.I cannot deal with it as a human ,I reported to God and asked my men to leave everything to Him,”he said.
