ZIFA Boss Ends Leave, Goes Back Home to Resolve Fired

ZIFA president Phillip Chiyangwa, who was on leave when Warriors coach Kalisto Pasuwa was fired, says he is going back to Zimbabwe to solve the crisis following a public outcry over the sacking of the national soccer squad gaffer.

In a statement late last night, Chiyangwa said he had heeded the call made by the Minister of Sport Makhosini Hlongwane to seriously consider reinstating Pasuwa.

He said, “I, Dr. Phillip Chiyangwa, the President of Zimbabwe Football Association have respectfully heeded to Minister of Sport and Recreation Honourable Makhosini Hlongwane’s call to come out of my leave and address the sacking of the technical team led by Kalisto Pasuwa and African Nations Championship (Chan) preparations.

“Consequently, I have dispatched Executive committee member and High performance technical committee chairman Edzai Kasinauyo to meet Pasuwa tomorrow (Saturday) and find an amicable solution. I have also instructed Mr. Kasinauyo to produce with a detailed report which I shall discuss with Honourable Minister Hlongwane on Sunday (20 December 2015).”

He said ZIFA is ready to address public concerns regarding the sacking of Pasuwa and African Nations Championship (CHAN) preparations.

“We appeal to members of the football fraternity and the nation at large to remain calm as we find lasting solutions to problems bedevilling our beautiful game.
