A 31-YEAR-OLD woman in KZN’s KwaMaphumulo desperately wants her punani nightmares to stop.
She said they began after she broke up with her fiance, who swore she would not find peace and happiness without him.
“For 10 years our relationship was controlled by his family,” she said.
“Things got worse after he paid lobola in 2007. It was as if he owned me,” she said.
She said she broke up with him in June because he was so possessive.
And then her torment began.

She said a prophet told her she had been cursed by her ex, and he gave her holy water to use.
That stopped the problem for a few days – but then the bad dreams came back again!
“I am tired of this,” she said. “No one wants punani with strangers every night. I want to send this back to him. Why should I suffer alone? He must suffer like me,” said the woman.
But her fiance said her claims were all lies.
“She is my wife and she will come back. It doesn’t matter how long it takes. She is mine,” he said.
Traditional Healers’ Association president Sazi Mhlongo said the woman should see an inyanga.
“Holy water does not help with such problems.
“She needs traditional medicine to stop the dreams,” said Mhlongo.
