As Zimbabwe’s
Warriors have arrived in Rwanda and are settling in in preparations for their first match on Tuesday, a passionate supporter,
Alvin Zhakata (a.k.a. Aluva), has just completed a breath taking 3,000 km, 5 day journey to go and cheer on his beloved country.
Travelling from 6 A.M. on Wednesday until just before 1 P.M. on Sunday the registered nurse has gone on a fully SELF FUNDED trip travelling by road using private cars, trucks, a bus, motorbike, scooter and even a bicycle.

The grueling journey saw Aluva at
one point being accosted by soldiers at the Rusumo border post in Rwanda after blowing his ‘vuvuzela’ but not long after the gunmen would be pleased to meet a Zimbabwean and pose for pictures with him. So delighted were they with him that they even organised free transport from the border to Kigali (the Rwanda capital).

The passionate supporter, intends to be at the African Nations Championships (Chan) tournament in Rwanda until 7 February all with money from his own pocket, hoping that Zimbabwe will make it to the finals and eventually take the trophy. To think that he is a nurse, a Government employee, who recently
had challenges with their salaries, this feat is remarkable.
