A teenage girl was rushed to a hospital in critical condition after drinking a poisonous substance because she was angry with her mother, according to police in Durban.

The mother told investigators that about a week ago, she realized that her daughter was spending time with a man old enough to be her father.
When the mother found out that the man was 39 years old, she banned her daughter from seeing him again, fearing that she might get pregnant or worse HIV.
On Monday morning, the mother went to her daughter’s bedroom to wake her up, but she found her unconscious in bed with a bottle of poison next to her.
