The President of the Republic of Cameroon, His Excellency Paul Biya has called on Central African Heads of State to act fast and tackle economic problems facing the Sub-region.
President Paul Biya made the statement at the opening ceremony of the extraordinary summit of the Heads of State of the Central African zone.He observed that within the last years, countries of the sub region have witnessed a sharp drop in their foreign reserves due to a fall in oil prices in the world market amongst other factors.
The Yaounde summit is therefore an occasion for the six leaders to agree on the most workable strategy to mitigate the slow pace of economic and political activities in the region.
The summit is attended by two special guests, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde and the French Minister of the Economy and Finance, Michel Sapin.
