This visit by the President of the Republic of Cameroon will take place one year after that of the Italian President, Sergeo Mattarella, in Cameroon.
The Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic and the Government are currently busy preparing for this state trip which will take place in the coming weeks. Indeed, Paul Biya will soon travel to Italy, as part of a state visit, from 20 to 22 March 2017.
A year ago, Sergeo Mattarella visited Cameroon from 18 to 20 March. Paul Biya and his host welcomed the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation that existed between the two countries and agreed to explore ways that could lead these relations to higher heights. They also gave an overview of the regional and international issues facing the international community.
The visit was further enhanced by the signing of three new agreements, namely: the Short-stay Visa Agreement for Holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports, the Agreement on Cultural, Technical and Scientific Cooperation, and Document Framework for the use of resources arising from the cancellation of Cameroon's debt to Italy.
The two Heads of State also welcomed the signing of the following instruments: the Memorandum of Understanding between the National School of Public Works and the University of Padua, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Habitat and Urban Development and the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering of the same university for the promotion of sustainable urban planning in Cameroon.
The President of the Italian Republic, HE Sergio MATTARELLA, invited the President of the Republic of Cameroon, HE Paul BIYA, to make an official visit to Italy. This invitation was accepted with pleasure.
The modalities of the visit were agreed through diplomatic channels.
