The government has ignored the dual nationality proposal suggested by Cameroonians Diaspora during the recent Diaspora Forum held under the distinguish patronage of the Head of State in Yaounde.
The debate on dual nationality was not given proper attention as described by participants.
It was an embarrassment to some Diasporas after the subject failed to show on the list of 10 resolutions adopted during the forum.
It should be noted that dual nationality which is still illegal in Cameroon has greatly hampered diaspora investment back home and also seriously eroded patriotism. This is happening in an era when most developed countries such as US, UK, Australia, Switzerland are instead rushing to embrace the phenomenon in order to facilitate direct investments by their nationals living abroad, hence promoting development.
