Paul Biya, Cameroon’s Head of State has reiterated the country’s resolve to host the 2019 African Nations Cup.
While receiving over 160 athletes who won international medals today August 10, at the Unity Palace, President Biya described the athletes as role models to other generations.
He equally use the forum to declare that Cameroon will be ready to host the African nations cup set for 2019, stating that he, Biya, has taken the personal engagement to ensure that all is set for the 2019 event.

President Biya remarks comes few days after the country’s top football officials have taken turns to assuage claims by Ahmad Ahmad, the Confederation of African Football,CAF, president, where he stated that the country will not be ready to host the 2019 African Nations Cup.
Issa Hayatou, former CAF president and now President of Cameroon’s National Football Academy had said Ahmad’s remarks smacks volumes of bad faith and a conspiracy in the bid to take the tournament away from Cameroon.
While Tombi A Roko, President of Cameroon Football Federation, Fecafoot, pointed out that the decision to increase the amount of participating teams and CAF’s verdict to bring forward the inspection visit, are all schemesaimed at striping the country of its hosting rights.
