Guest of the show “La Grande interview” broadcast in the evening yesterday Tuesday, October 24, 2017 on Canal 2 International, the former Minister of Public Service, Garga Haman Adji, told in great detail, the exchange that he had with the President of the Republic, on Friday, January 6, 2017, during the ceremony of presentation of the vows at the Unity Palace in Yaoundé about the Anglophone crisis that was just in its infancy.
The president comes to me, he catches my hands. He is used to calling me “Mr. Minister” or “Mr. Garga”. But that day, he said to me, “Garga, you follow what’s going on, you have to do something. Garga bring Bamenda back to me”. And it was really pathetic, says the president of the Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD), an opposition political party.
The latter claims that he embarked on a tour to the northwest and southwest, the two English-speaking regions, on Monday following his tête-à-tête with the Head of State.
At the end of this tour during which he said he met all the personalities that matter in this part of the country in crisis, Garga Haman Adji confides to have submitted a report to the President of the Republic mentioning in a good place, the measures to take for an exit.
He did not send me to extinguish the fire. He knows I do not know how to be a firefighter. But, he told me to study the root of the evil. And the root of evil, all the personalities that matter in the Northwest and Southwest, I met them one after the other, said the first Minister ever to have voluntarily left the government under Paul’s 30-year regime Biya.
