The incarcerated former Finance Minister Ignatius Chombo will appear at the Harare magistrates court today for routine bail hearing amid a fight for his case to be heard in-camera as highly sensitive information is likely to emerge in his court appearances.
He is charged with breaching the Prevention of Corruption Act, criminal abuse of office and fraud amounting to $3,2 million.Through his lawyer Lovemore Madhuku, Chombo said he could only speak in-camera because his evidence submissions include classified information.

Magistrate Elisha Singano is presiding over the case while the State is represented by Tapiwa Kasema, Edmore Nyazamba, Francesca Mukumbiri, Oscar Madhume and George Manokore.
Chombo is among other alleged offences, charged with prejudicing the state of the $3,2 million when he was still the Local Government minister.
He briefly appeared in court late Saturday evening when he was remanded in custody to today, Monday.
If convicted in a trial that is expected to attract high attention and could be lengthy, Chombo faces a maximum possible 55 years in prison. – ZimEye
