English Speaking Crisis- Another School In The South West Region Burned During The Night.

Increasingly, private and public schools are going up in smoke in the North West and South West, the two Regions that are suffering the effects of the Anglophone crisis.

This Sunday, November 12, 2017, around 8 pm, unidentified people set fire to the Saint Pius College in the district of Ekondo Titi, Department of Ndian, in the South West Region.

According to our sources, the flames consumed a good part of the girls' dormitory. Despite the panic caused by the fire, residents of the girls' boarding school were rescued. There was more fear than harm. But, the material damage is important ...

Since the outbreak of the socio-political crisis in the English-speaking regions, a dozen schools have been burned by criminal hands "to force its closure by force" says the National Commission for Human Rights and Freedoms which was published yesterday Saturday, November 11, 2017, a statement on the tense situation in the Northwest and Southwest. It is suspected separatists who claim the independence of the two English-speaking regions of Cameroon.

"The right to education for the protection of which most of the victims of the obscurantist barbarism of separatist terrorists is included is guaranteed in particular by the Constitution of Cameroon of 18 January 1996, which states in its Preamble (18 th indent) that:" The State provides the child the right to education. Primary education is compulsory.

 The organization and control of education at all levels are imperative duties of the State. This right is also enshrined in numerous regional and international legal instruments ratified by the State of Cameroon. Thus, the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights asks, paragraph 1 st of Article 17 that "[e] veryone has the right to education." Similarly, paragraph 1 stArticle 13 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights states that "States Parties to the present Covenant recognize the right of everyone to education. 

They agree that education must be directed to the full development of the human personality and sense of dignity and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. They further agree that education must enable all persons to play a useful role in a free society, foster understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations and all racial, ethnic or religious groups and encourage development of United Nations peacekeeping activities "recalls NCHRF.
