Mugabe’s former deputy, Emmerson Mnangagwa, is expected to be sworn in today as the country’s interim leader.
President Jacob Zuma will no longer travel to Zimbabwe’s capital Harare today, the Presidency said.This after Zuma, in his capacity as chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), was in Angola on Tuesday to attend a meeting to discuss the unfolding developments in Zimbabwe.

Presidency spokesperson Dr Bongani Ngqulunga said Zuma’s visit to Zimbabwe has now been postponed until further notice.
The announcement from the Presidency follows the resignation of embattled Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe on Tuesday, his vice-president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, is expected to be sworn in today as the country’s interim leader.
“The SADC Organ Troika Plus SADC Chairperson Summit that met in Angola today, 21 November 2017, had taken a decision that the SADC Chairperson, President Zuma and the Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, President Joao Lourenco of Angola should travel to Zimbabwe to assess the situation on behalf of SADC,” Ngqulunga said in a terse statement on Wednesday morning.
