The Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA) has declared that schools will not open for the second term if government fails to address their poor working conditions.
In his closing remarks at the association’s 37th annual conference in Victoria Falls this afternoon, ZIMTA’s secretary general Mr Tapson Nganunu said teachers will not be deterred from exercising their right to collective bargaining.

This development comes at a time ,when teachers’ unions have formed the Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Union (FOZEU) in a move meant to address the unique needs of members of the teaching service.
FOZEU recently handed over a petition to government demanding to be met before the schools second term begins, failing which they would go on strike.
