Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been shortlisted for yet another player of the year award, while longstanding rival Lionel Messi was snubbed.

The Portuguese striker is one of the final three nominees for the Globe Soccer Awards' best player prize, which will be handed out on 3 January.
"The 10th anniversary of the Globe Soccer Awards is a special milestone," Globe Soccer's chief executive officer Tommaso Bendoni said, as quoted by Marca.

Ronaldo, who has lifted the award four times, including in the past two years, has been nominated for the eighth time, while Messi, who won the award in 2015, has not made the final three.
In addition, Jurgen Klopp, Massimiliano Allegri, Didier Deschamps, Zinedine Zidane and Diego Simeone have been nominated for the Globe Soccer Coach of the Year award.
With other awards categories include the Best Club of the Year, the Best President of the Year and the Best Agent of the Year, the Globe Soccer Awards was established in 2010 in order to not just recognise the best players and coaches, but also the people who work behind the scenes.
