The late music legend Oliver 'Tuku' Mtukudzi is said to have apologised to his daughter - Selmor - for not giving a helping hand in her music career few days before his death.
This was revealed by Tuku's first wife Melody Murape, who is Selmor's mother, at her Highfield residence yesterday. Melody said Tuku, who is credited for nurturing several artistes, regretted few days before his death and challenged his daughters to unite.
Although Tuku died without a project with Selmor, Melody does not doubt her ability. Murape said reasons Tuku could not associate with his daughters are well documented.
"You have been seeing what was happening and that doesn't need me to confirm.
"The good thing is he realised it before his death. He (Tuku) even apologised to his daughters and specifically Selmor.
"He said forgive me my daughters, I have helped a number of musicians but I have done nothing to you.

H-Metro also gathered that Tuku had been meeting his daughters on a number of occasions before his death, which Melody confirmed.
"He (Tuku) has been inviting them to talk about different issues. I think he realised that he was now in his last days on earth; that's what happened to Tuku.
"The love for his daughters was at another level that I couldn't even believe it. Almost every day, unless they were not around, they had been going to talk to their father and he tasked Sandra to unite her siblings.
"When he was still able to walk, he could even go with them for lunch. I heard he once went with them at an exclusive place in town."
Tuku is credited for helping a number of budding musicians through his Pakare Paye Arts Centre.
He nurtured a number of musicians who are now established, among them Munya Matamtse, Mbeu, Norman Masamba, Tsvete, Gary Tight and Charles and Namatayi Chipanga.
Tuku, who succumbed to diabetes on January 23, has also done collaborations with a number of local and foreign musicians.
