Prophet Shepherd Bushiri Responds To Sexual Abuse Allegations

Enlightened Christian Gathering Church led by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri Civil rights has responded to allegations by civil rights movement #NotInMyName which has criticized Bushiri, leader of taking advantage of several women within his vast church.

“Wathint’ abafazi, wathint’ imbokodo! [you strike a woman, you strike a rock]. No amount of expensive designer suits, jewelry, hundreds of bodyguards, expensive Range Rovers, private jets, overzealous yet floundering lawyers, the tired gospel of prosperity or cultism will be able to shield Shepherd Bushiri when #NotInMyName and patriotic South Africans rise to #Shutdown that ECG church,” secretary general Themba Masango said on Sunday.

However, Prophet Bushiri and ECG have invited members of the civil rights group to have access to the church and do their investigations.

“The Founder of ECG Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has the leadership of the church to engage NIMNSA so as to get more light as their allegations were not specific and more information was required from our side so that internal processes of investigation may begin and those implicated face disciplinary actions,” The church said in a statement.

“The church has also invited NIMNSA to their own investigations and commits to granting them full access to the church, its followers and leadership so as to perform a thorough investigation.

“Once again we would like to reiterate that the Prophet is against any forms of abuse, and church leaders and those who have been implicated in the allegations made by NIMNSA will be provisionally suspended until NIMNSA has completed their investigations.”
Bushiri and his wife Mary are on R100,000 bail each after they were arrested by the SAPS Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, known as the Hawks, on serious fraud and money laundering charges.

The Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court postponed that matter to May 10.
