One of Mzansi’s most loved telenovela characters Fikile (Played by Nelisa Mchunu) narrowly escaped rape in one of the most recent episodes of SABC 1’s drama series Uzalo.
The beauty nearly fell victim to her partner in crime, Sbu’s lustful low life friend who pounced on her in a bid to quench his sexual appetites. Fortunately, Sbu came to her rescue, arriving in the nick of time before the thug could abuse her.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, Nelisa opened up on the traumatic experience her character, Fikile, experienced, taking the opportunity to raise awareness on the topic of sexual abuse. She encouraged victims of rape not to suffer in silence and report the perpetrators to law enforcement officers so that they face the wrath of the law.

Speaking on her official Twitter account, she said;
‘Unfortunately in real life we don’t have oSbu noNkunzi to bury rapists alive, so please, please don’t ever be afraid to report a rape case, rapists don’t deserve to be out in the streets terrorising women.’ Nelisa said.
The actress’s post sparked a social media debate. Some of her fans opened up on their own experiences, whilst some commended her for raising awareness of violence against women.
