The ban was alleged as a result of a complaint lodged by a Zimbabwean actress about Zodwa Wabantu, the risqué public figure, often not afraid to spread the message of body positivity through showcasing her own body. Following the event, Zodwa addressed the backlash during her feature on Pearl Thusi’s popular celebrity talk show, BET’s Behind The Story.
During the interview, Zodwa Wabantu explained it was not the people that did not want her in Zimbabwe, but it was the law that prohibited her from visiting the country. And when Pearl Thusi continued to probe by stating that the star seemingly does not uphold Zimbabwe’s supposed Christian values, Zodwa shrugged and stated in isiZulu, “What do I have to do with the Church?”
