South African rising star and daughter to veteran musician Winnie Khumalo, Rethabile Khumalo, is reported to have been involved in a near-fatal car crash which has left her nursing massive injuries, reports reaching this publication have revealed.
The Khumalo family has been plunged into deepest distress following the development and has appealed to the public to keep them and Rethabile in their prayers.

Winnie confirmed the news on her official Twitter account on Monday evening. She, however, did not reveal the circumstances leading to the accident. In a rather terse tweet, Winnie said:
“Hi, friends. I would like to inform you that @Rethabile_rsa was in a car accident and she is badly hurt. Your prayers will be highly appreciated,” she pleaded.
The rising star who is following her mother’s footsteps is popularly known for laying her powerful vocals on smash hit track, Umlilo, featuring one of South Africa’s finest musicians, DJ Zinhle.
Rethabile who had for years been a backup dancer for her mother was introduced to South Africa when she first auditioned for Idols South Africa in 2012. She was not successful during her first attempt but made a mark for herself when she auditioned for the talent show the following year. Although she didn’t progress far in the competition, it definitely marked the beginning of her blossoming career.
