Zodwa Wabantu’s Biography is one very cringe-worthy on so many levels but still fun to read. From humble beginnings to controversial popularity, Zodwa has found herself almost on every media gossip column – daily!
She is one person who never shies away from doing what she loves. Nothing is off-limits for her.
Family and Humble Beginnings:
Born Zodwa Rebecca Libram in Soweto on October 30, 1985, she is 35 years this year. She once revealed she lost her parents at an early age and was raised by her grandmother and uncle in a poor background.
This forced her to move out of her grandma’s house at 16 to start her own life – and that’s where it all began, she always says.
The rough ghetto life moulded her to be the person she is today.
Zodwa does not talk much about her family and the relationship she has with them.
She, however, is blessed with her now 14-year-old son, Vuyo. She has made it clear that everything she does is to ensure the 13-year-old’s financial security
Rise To Fame:
It all began with her love for nightlife and the dance floor.Zodwa had been dancing for quite some time before she became an international celebrity.
All it took was a skimpy black dress the beautiful-sultry- damsel bedazzled on a certain day – without any underwear. And boom, she was all around newspapers and media houses.
Her breakthrough to the entertainment scene came when a viral image of her hitting the dance floor was taken by one, Mthoko Dlamini at Durban’s Eyadini hangout spot.
Famous Dance:
Since then, she became everyone’s favourite. Her skimpy dressing during dance routines made her a controversial figure loved by many. The self-proclaimed “pantyless dancer” hits the dance flow without any undergarments. That has become her trademark.
She gained the “Vosho Queen” title from her salacious moves that tease her ample bosom and under-gamentless bottom.
But these have come with a price. She has faced backlash since the inception of her brand.
She is even banned from visiting Zimbabwe. The impoverished country once claimed she will tarnish its image with her uncultured dance moves.
Networth:
Zodwa announced she made her first million back in 2018 after making her debut reality series Zodwa Wabantu Uncensored with MojaLove. The risque dance is reportedly making over R35 000 per appearance in gigs.
She recently made headlines for auctioning her R150 000 worth image amid coronavirus pandemic.
She also has an endorsement deal with a Durban medical centre that specialises in dermatology and cosmetic surgery.
Relationships and Ben 10 Controversy.
Zodwa recently revealed she slept with a well-known DJ, Thabo Mabongwane from Black Motion.
This as she goes through one of a messy break up with Vusi Ngubane, her most recent Ben 10.
In a twist of rage, the infuriated risque dancer invaded Vusi’s family while looking for him on allegations he stole something from her.
Zodwa has had quite a mouthful of such young breeds.
She confessed her love for men way younger than her age.
She once dated and proposed to her then 24-year old boyfriend Ntobeko Linda after 6 years of dating.
She, however, called off the relationship after Ntobeko’s family refused to give her their son’s hand in marriage.
Zodwa shockingly requested half of the lobola she had paid for him.
