After releasing a short clip escorted by an army of traditional healers, isangoma, the estranged Zodwa Wabantu vowed to deal with ex, Vusi in a traditional way.
This, as she waved ishoba and swearing at her Ben 10 after their nasty break up.
“Ungjwayela kabi loyo,” Zodwa is quoted saying, as the reason she wants to use muthi over him.
But tradition bearers have sounded alarmed about the whole arcane behaviour.
“She was not supposed to carry ishoba, she made a mistake,” they say.
Upon seeing the viral video, a number of traditional healers (isangoma) expressed concern that the risqué dancer was going too far.
What she did was disrespectful and was tainting their image, said the traditional healers pleading that she should apologise.
They believe that her actions are inviting a lot of bad omens into her life. Especially her carrying and waving around ishoba (whisk).
Ishoba is made out of cow tail and is religiously used by traditional healers or isangoma to strengthen and protect themselves.
It is a taboo for an ordinary person to carry around ishoba.
“She will think she’s bewitched when everything turns ugly for her, “said one renounced Sangoma Mtimande to Daily Sun.
Ishoba is given to a Sangoma at a certain stage. If you haven’t reached that stage, you don’t dare touch it,” he furiously added.
“When you give it to someone, you’re weakening yourself. And for someone to give it to you, it will be bad luck and even a curse. ” added another Sangoma.
But the defiant Zodwa has already lashed out at the Sangoma, saying they should mind their own business and focus more on their healing.
“They should focus on healing people and not me,” she responded to Daily Sun.
