The convoy with Genius Ginimbi Kadungure’s body yesterday brought business to a standstill in Harare all the way up to Domboshava.
The congestion started early hours of the day as the convoy made its way to Harare from Domboshava to collect Ginimbi’s body at the funeral palour.

Thousands of people gathered outside the funeral palour as admission was restricted due to Covid-19 regulations.
Roads around the area were impassable and it was impossible to practice social distancing.
People screamed, whistled and yelled “Ginimbi” taking pictures and crowding like there was a stampede.
Meanwhile, another huge crowd was gathering around Ginimbi’s Dreams nightclub as news started filtering that that is where the hearse was headed from the funeral palour.
That crowd grew uncontrollably out of control making it impossible to follow Covid-19 regulations.
As all this was happening in the CBD, thousands of people were lining up along Borrowdale Road all the way to Domboshava expecting to make a guard of honour for the late Ginimbi’s convoy.
The convoy was around two kilometres long and made it impossible for other cars to encroach into or cross Borrowdale Road.
Bystanders screamed and hailed the late Ginimbi’s name in what will certainly go down as the biggest funeral ever held for a businessman or socialite in Zimbabwe.
The situation was even worse when the hearse reached Domboshava.

Vehicles had to go through forests of pedestrians who flooded the streets and took pictures whilst screaming Ginimbi’s name.
Domboshava has never beheld such sights.
Only huge political figures in Zimbabwe’s history ever saw such crowds and internet activity around their deaths.
