Musician Andy Muridzo says he is relishing his new role as Fashion Police brand ambassador.
The 28-year-old succeeded the late Soul Jah Love, the face of the clothing brand that he served with distinction.
Chibaba, as the chanter was fondly known, succumbed to diabetes on February 16 and was declared a liberation hero. After his death, Fashion Police boss Anne Humbura roped in Andy Muridzo, who has been supportive over the years.
In an interview with H-Metro, Humbira said the Jeetaz Band leader was indeed the best candidate for the job. “I have been working with Soul Jah Love over the years as our brand ambassador, but he is no more. “Chibaba served my firm with distinction and having him as my brand ambassador was a blessing.
“However, I have decided to rope in Andy Muridzo as Chibaba’s successor and I am glad that he agreed to work with us,” said Humbira. Asked why they settled for Andy Muridzo, she explained: “Andy Muridzo is a real influencer and those that have been working with him will agree with me that he is indeed a professional.
“Besides being a family friend, Andy has been supportive to my brand by promoting my cloth[1]ing brand. “He constantly buys my clothes and I decided to reward him with an ambassadorial role.” In another interview, Andy Muridzo confirmed the new role.
“Yes, it’s true that I have succeeded Chibaba as Fashion Police brand ambassador. “I really cherish the new role that I was given, but the main challenge is to match or surpass the stands set by the late Chibaba in marketing the Fashion Police brand.
“At first I was not comfortable taking the role, but I was convinced by my handlers to assume the task. “I have realised that I am now an influencer and a role model to others hence the decision to support a sister who has a vision.
“As you know, Anne Humbira is a fashionista who has been working closely with top artistes and her firm has helped us in our video shoots and other special events. “I will be forever grateful to her as she has indeed been assisting us as artistes. “As you know elegance and style are required in our job, but the majority of us can’t afford it,” he said.
Top artistes, comprising Peter Moyo, Baba Harare, Maselo and Carlos Green, have been working with Fashion Police boss over the years, with the majority of Zimdancehall chanters having endorsed the brand. Meanwhile, Andy Muridzo will record a special song dedicated to Fashion Police today.
