Another school teacher was recently dragged to court after she reportedly assaulted a six-year-old student using a cooking stick.
Virginia Nevanji, 48, a Primary School teacher from Courtney Selous appeared before Harare magistrate Tafadzwa Miti to answer to the ill-treatment of children charges.
It is in the States case that on October 13, at around 10 am, the student was in a Shona lesson but did not realize that his teacher, Nevanji had moved to the English lesson of the day so he continued writing his Shona exercise.
It is alleged that Nevanji saw the student writing Shona and went to his desk and started assaulting him with a cooking stick several times on his back.
The court heard that the matter only came to light the next morning when the minor’s mother was bathing him and she saw some bruises on his back.
