A HARARE man reportedly lost US$74 000 after self-proclaimed foreign ritualists promised him that his money would multiply if he locks it in a trunk.
It is alleged that the ritualists told the victim, Gesham Mutero that his ancestors wanted to bless him with US$20 million.
It is the State’s case that on March 2 2022, the three men convinced Mutero that he should raise US$74 000 so that they could perform a ritual and he complied.
According to State papers, Mutero was instructed to put the money inside a trunk so that it could multiply with the blessings of his ancestors.

Mutero then filed a report at a police station.
One of the suspects, Daniel Epic Kato, 20, was arrested and he appeared before Harare Magistrate, Yeukai Dzuda charged with fraud.
His accomplices, Twaha Mugabi and Ibra Kimbungive, are still on the run.
Kato was not asked to plead and has been remanded in custody awaiting his bail hearing.
Meanwhile, there have been increased reports of money rituals lately. Social media was awash with videos, allegely from Dubai, where “slay queens” were engaging in dehumanising acts for money.
Currently, unconfirmed social media reports are pointing out that people are having their toes cut off so that they can become rich and live luxurious lives.
In Zimbabwe, people have started selling their toes for thousands of dollars or for big cars. This is due to the high cost of living and failure for the government to create jobs. The toes are being bought at $40,000 dollars while the smaller ones at $20,000 dollars. pic.twitter.com/jk6iRCJpJF

It is believed that foreign currency and cell phone dealers who ply their trade at the Ximex Mall area along Jason Moyo Avenue are now selling their toes for riches.
Unverified screenshots flying around on WhatsApp, Twitter, and Facebook suggest that some sell their toes for as much as US$40,000 for the big toe, US$25,000 for the middle toe and US$10,000 for the tiny toe.
