Dozens of men have been detained since reports emerged last week of the alleged gang-rape of eight women on the set of a music video in South Africa.
The suspects are expected to appear in court today after police arrested several artisanal miners, who locals blame for the widespread violence.
The arrests near Krugersdorp, a town northwest of Johannesburg, rose to more than 120.
However, none of the arrested men and boys have reportedly been charged with sexual assault or rape. Police said they hope DNA tests will allow them to link some of the detainees to the alleged gang-rape in the coming days.
The defendants, believed to be miners working in South Africa's dangerous abandoned shafts, reportedly face charges including possession of firearms and illegal mining.
On Monday, the South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa, asked the public to join the case and help find those who carried out the attack last Thursday.
