Passion Java Ministries founder Prophet Passion Java on Tuesday caused a stir when he was mobbed at Premier Auto car dealers in the capital where he reportedly splashed a staggering $500 000 on three cars which are believed to be gifts for his senior pastors.
The sales team at the shop confirmed to this publication that the ‘man-of-cloth’ had purchased three vehicles .
He bought two brand new Range Rover Vogues and a Jaguar XJ .
He was in the company of his ministry’s top echelon and businessperson Collen Kwaramba and he refused to entertain the press, referring all questions to the church’s publicist, Pastor Charles Mungoshi Jnr.
Pastor Charles too refused to dwell much on the matter, and said it was a “private transaction”.
“Well, I am sorry I cannot go into detail about this transaction for I believe it’s a private transaction that is not meant for public consumption.
“I guess you agree me with me that people buy cars everyday, but no one stalks them and I beg that you respect that space,” said Pastor Charles.
Prophet Passion’s new buy adds to his fleet of luxurious vehicles which includes a new model of Chrysler.
The purchase follows hot on the heels of United Family International Church founder Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa who also imported a Mercedes Benz S65 AMG, that is believed to be the first in Africa.
This trend has given rise to speculation that local prosperity gospel preachers’ lifestyle will soon closely match that of their American counterparts.
In fact, in the American reality show called Preachers of LA, the men of cloth openly flaunt their wealth and ‘bling bling’.
Their congregants seem to have comfortably accepted this new phenomenon.
Prophet Eubert Angel, the founder Of Spirit Embassy, is also known for his penchant of flashy cars and he once attended church aboard a Harley Davidson motorbike, and his fleet of cars is also flashy.
Only Prophet Magaya of PHD Ministries -who is now commanding arguably the largest flock- has modest tests as he travels in a 1.3 litre ex Jap Mazda Demio
Meanwhile, Prophet Passion will, this month, host celebrity preacher Bishop Noel Jones from the United States at the Harare City Sports Centre.
Jones will be the guest speaker at the annual Manna Feast Conference hosted by the church.
He confirmed his visit on a video drop he sent on You Tube.
His visit to the country follows his close relationship with Prophet Passion who recently returned from the United States for a series of presentations.
