The TV presenter popped the question to girlfriend Ali Astall over the weekend in Australia and reportedly splashed out £70,000 on the ring
Declan Donnelly has thanked fans for their well wishes after getting engaged to his girlfriend Ali Astall at the weekend.
The baby-faced telly star, who popped the question after a year and a half of dating, took to Twitter to tell followers on the Ant&Dec social media account, which he shares with fellow presenter Ant McPartlin, that he is a "very happy boy" after putting one HUGE diamond on the blonde beauty's finger.
He wrote: "Hey, just wanted to say a big Thank U for all the lovely msg's over the last couple of days. Really appreciate it. Very happy boy. D xx"
They may have got engaged on Australia's Gold Coast - but Dec chose platinum when it came to buying a ring to propose to Ali, his manager of more than 10 years.
I'm A Celebrity host Dec, 39, and Ali, 36, have been seen out together for the first time since the news broke, going shopping ahead of the ITV series beginning this weekend.
Ali's ring was on display for all to see whilst the pair were out and last night a top jeweller said Dec splashed out around a cool £70,000 (POUNDS) on fiancee Ali's engagement ring.
Fine diamond jewellery expert, Lewis Malka said: "This looks like a stunning ring and I would expect that the diamond is of a really high clarity and colour.
"This looks like a four carat diamond in a traditional platinum band with split shoulders and a four claw setting allowing for lots of natural light to get to the diamond. I would say that a piece like this would cost in the region of £70,000."
Speaking about the romance earlier this year Dec admitted that there was always something between him and Ali: "I think we've always been attracted to each other but it has always been that thing of we work together. This is the first time we've given it a try.
"We always hung out. When she was single and I was single we'd go out for dinner on Valentine's night together because we didn't have partners.
"This year we went out as couple. I'd like to get married one day."
He added: "It's going good. Everything's hunky-dory. It was a little strange because we've had a working relationship for so long. But because it just happened there was no big ta-da."
