Back in the days, limited preachers dared to speak of prosperity within the church confines.
Those who attempted to, probably did so on a different platform, altogether. Nowadays, young preachers charged and armed with the prosperity gospel have slowly invaded the pulpit.
Some have even crossed the boundary to administer ‘miracle money’. ‘Miracle money’ and cars have become a noble show of ‘prosperity’ in some sections. In the end, there has been a notable division between the traditional churches and the emerging Pentecostal establishments. While many will reason that fortune is evil; money is essentially required for most of the administrative procedures in church.
Though we might differ in ways we administer the gospel of prosperity, we all need to prosper in a certain way. Money alone is not the route to prosperity. Even if money can answer problems, it can also bring more curses if it is not managed in the right way.
Therefore, the gospel of prosperity needs to be addressed towards the right candidates at the accurate moment, within the correct precincts.
Prosperity has many identified dimensions. Some of the critical and everyday identified dimensions include:
Unfortunately, some preachers have tended to focus on the financial dimension relegating the other critical dimensions in the process. Some even believe that being rich is evil. No. it only becomes evil when you acquire it in an evil manner. And if your intention of getting rich is evil. Otherwise if you have good intentions, your riches can actually propel the gospel.
While ‘miracle money’ was good when it lasted in Zimbabwe; it then created a section of lazy Christians who assumed money could actually rain instead of working for their own benefit. First there must be a blessing administered by the servant of God, then a flow of propensity can be recognised but it also needs important principles to be observed in the process. This automatically cancels any wishful thoughts towards instant success.
When someone is blessed financially, their foremost obligation is to finance the gospel of Christ. Physical prosperity concerns the health of an individual. Secondly, physiological support is to do with our critical analysis. Social prosperity is charged with your acceptance within your respective communities. While material prosperity entitles you to acquire your own possessions here on earth.
This therefore means that if a preacher eliminates any of these, they are actually not approaching prosperity in its totality. Taking shortcuts also risk confusing people and diverting their focus if they concentrate on a singular dimension. While we all seek to be rich at one stage, we often ignore that we are being blessed in other dimensions that are often ignored in the process.
