A BODY of a man from Bulawayo’s Nguboyenja was found in a decomposing state at Burombo hostel grounds last Tuesday. The body has since been identified as that of James Dube who had left home on 4 March.
His decomposing body was spotted by a passerby on 10 March. The discovery was then reported to the police. The deceased was found wearing underwear only and heavily bruised on the abdomen.
Narrating the emotional experience the late’s son Vincent, said his father had left home at around 5pm on 4 March but never returned.
“He left in the evening and never told anyone where he was going. On Wednesday the following day in the morning we launched a manhunt but we could not find him. After that I reported the matter to the police,” said Vincent.
In a bid to find his father Vincent went to several hospitals and enquired but could not find him. He said when they had accepted the fact that his father was killed, an unknown woman came to him and said:
“I heard that you are looking for your father. I saw a dead person lying in a pool of water at Burombo hostel grounds.”
Vincent rushed to the scene and identified the body.
“I quickly went to the scene and found his lifeless body wearing underwear only,” said Dube, with tears streaming down his cheeks.
He added: “What shocked me is that his left eye was gouged out. I believe he was mugged and killed by thieves.”
Efforts to get a comment from Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo were fruitless.
