WOMEN in Zimbabwe should be allowed to wear mini-skirts without being harassed, Vice President Emmerson Mnangwagwa has said, adding that it’s their constitutional right.
According to NewsDay, Mnangwagwa said women used to wear loincloths before colonisers came and insisted on wearing full clothing.
"Women used to wear nhembe [a short apron] but no one protested," he said.
"Then came the whites with clothes that covered the whole body," Mnangwagwa was quoted as saying.
"If a woman parades herself in a mini-skirt, leave her, that is what she wants."
Minis and whether Zimbabwean women should wear them have been in the news since a woman was forcibly undressed by touts at a minibus taxi rank in Harare in December.
