A Zvishavane man, Osborn Shumba (23) had his mother crawling down and begging for mercy when he had an altercation with his wife and produced a toy gun and threatening to kill her. Osborn had learnt that his wife was having an affair with other man in Gweru where she was living with her sister.
He allegedly went to his mother to get advice but a quarrel broke out when Osborn's mother Mavis Tauyanago told his son not to believe everything that he is told before getting his wife's side of the story.
According to Masvingo Mirror, Osborn then armed himself with an ear piecer he got from friend and ordered his mother to lie down or he was going to shoot them.
The complainants who believed that the convict was holding a real gun started begging for mercy and promised the convict they would quickly go and collect his wife from Gweru if he spared their lives.
Prosecutor Sternly Ncube told the court that the mother was threatened together with a cousin named Maxwell.
The incident happened on May 10, 2015 and at around 7 PM in Makwasha suburbs.
He later freed the two who went and reported the case at Zvishavane Police Station leading to the arrest of the Osborn who was charged with assault.
Magistrate Tavengwa Sangster sentenced Osborn to six months imprisonment which where wholly suspended on condition he performs 210 hours of community service at Zvishavane Magistrate's court
