Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries (PHD) founder Prophet Walter Magaya faces a fresh US$2 million lawsuit from Upenyu and Blessing Mashangwa.
In the summons matter, the Mashangwa couple through their lawyer Jonathan Samkange accuses Magaya of having caused their arrest on the 15th of March 2015 for allegations of fraud amounting to US$40 000.
They allege as a result of Magaya’s instigation they were inhumanely treated by law enforcement authorities from the Criminal Investigations Department, law and order section.
They additionally say on the 16th of March they were jointly arrested and detained at Harare Central Police Station again at Magaya’s instigation where they were not charged.
The couple allege this was malicious and unlawful and they suffered mental anguish.
They also accuse Magaya of sending people to threaten them from continuing to pursue their claim for US$44 000 for commuter omnibuses he delivered which have not been paid for.
They also say the arrest was extensively publicised resulting in them being humiliated and their reputations as business people, Christians and law abiding citizens being extensively damaged.
They jointly pray for payment of a million dollars each plus interest on both sums at 5 percent per annum from the date of issuance of summons to the date of payment in full.
The duo’s legal battle with Magaya was allegedly prompted when they put up their house Number 14 Edinburgh Road Marlborough East for sale when Magaya through his agents expressed interest.
Magaya allegedly met the couple through his agents and revealed a vision from Christ and Almighty God that the business couple would own an airline but there was a requirement for them to sow a seed.
The two believed this and made available 900 000 rand for the purchase of a Landrover Discovery 2014 series, and handed it over to the defendant in December last year.
They later were made to pay US$15 000 to Magaya as seed money for their partnership with Emirates Airline.
They have been legally battling to recover their money.
