A former employee at the Prophetic Healing Deliverance (PHD) Ministries led by Walter Magaya, appeared at the Mbare Magistrates Court last Friday charged with stealing $1 900 from the church’s finance office in Waterfalls.
Takudzwa Biza (20) pleaded guilty to the unlawful entry charge when he appeared before magistrate Shelly Zvenyika, who remanded him in custody to tomorrow for sentence.
Asked how he gained access to the closely-monitored office, Biza said he was given keys to the office by one of the security officers who was manning the offices on Saturday last week.

Allegations against Biza were that on the day in question at around 1pm, he broke into PHD’s finance office where he proceeded to steal the cash and disappeared from the scene unnoticed.
However, it was not made clear in court papers when, where and how Biza was arrested, but at the time he appeared in court nothing had been recovered.
In mitigation, Biza pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy, saying the reason he was tempted to steal the cash was that he intended to settle his debts.
“I only stole the money because I was desperate to settle a debt. I am prepared to pay back the money to the church if I am given the chance to do so,” he said.
Biza also told the court that he was no longer employed after he was suspended from work in June this year at the PHD Ministries where he worked in the sales and production department.
