The First Becomes Laughing Stock Within State House.

Days after Malawi First Lady, Hendrina Mutharika, registered her charity organization, Beautify Malawi Trust, she has has become a laughing stock among State House officials. 

Many feel her charity does not resonate with the problems being faced by Malawians.

Several women who work at State House confided in us that the trending gossip is about the Trust which many feel is a waste of time and a dull initiative.

“What does she want to achieve really? Of all these problems in the country she is wasting time to talk about beautifying Malawi? It would have been better had she used her energies and resources to help orphans and widows,” said one lady working at State House.

Also giving us her side of the story was a security guard who labelled the First Lady as amazingly dull in how she handles issues.

“It makes sense that they are laughing at her. She looks dull and off-key in what she does. I think she is yet to grasp the fact that she is First Lady. Beautify Malawi is a miss and it will not help anyone,” said she.

Since independence, spouses to male Presidents have always helped the poor through charity work.
