How Liverpool and Arsenal can both work together to secure transfers of Borussia Dortmund duo Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

You may be right not to think rival clubs can help each other out

But there are exceptions to every rule and there is a genuine possibility that two clubs could help one another to land their top target.

Arsenal and Liverpool are chasing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marco Reus, respectively.

The Gunners have been told to fork out £42million if they want to seal a move for the Gabon international.

And the Reds have been made the overwhelming favourites to land Reus.

Normally, if one of the clubs was serious about signing their target then they could just offer Borussia Dortmund the cash required and push through a move.

But in this intriguing case, there’s a sticking point.

Aubameyang and Reus have made a pact to not leave the club unless the other is also leaving, according to Sport Bild.

That means that even if Arsenal had everything in place to sign Aubameyang, the move could not go through unless Reus was also leaving the club.

The same applies with Liverpool’s move for Reus.

Regardless of the players’ interest in a move, if they aren’t both moving then neither is going anywhere.

So, what’s the solution? For the clubs to work in tandem and pursue the pair simultaneously.

Presumably, the duo would be more than keen to move to the same country as it seems unlikely that any one club could afford to bring both of them in.

But if Arsenal and Liverpool can work together, then they would both benefit greatly and each secure their top target.
