Manchester United will start their hunt for Louis van Gaal’s replacement at the end of the season with the Red Devils expecting the Dutchman to see out the rest of his 18-month contract before retiring.

And, with United desperate to avoid a repeat of their woeful handling of Sir Alex Ferguson’s proposed retirement in 2002, the Telegraph say that United officials will draw up a shortlist of potential successors this summer for the side’s next manager in 2017.
