A ZB Bank Avondale branch lost $2 400 to two suspected Asian nationals through hanging notes at the counter. The bank teller gave the suspects a bundle of $100 to select the note they wanted since they had requested for one with a star after the serial number.
Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba has appealed to members of the public to assist with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of a man and woman believed to be of Asian origin in connection to a case of fraud said Snr Comm Charamba.

“As they were given the one dollar notes they declined citing that they were dirty and the two went on to ask the bank teller to give them special US$100 with a star after the serial number.
“The unsuspecting Bank teller took a bundle of us$100 notes and gave them to the male suspect supposedly for assisting him to look for a special note while the female accused was busy talking to the bank teller to distract him.
“Later the male accused told the bank teller he had failed to get the special note and they left.
“Suddenly the bank teller became suspicious and rushed to a CCTV which depicted something in his pocket while in the bank.
“He later realized the accused had stolen $2400,” said Senior Ass-Comm Charamba.
