A young boy from Gweru’s Mkoba 20 has apparently murdered a 41-year-old housemaid in a disagreement over a memory card.
The 14-year-old boy, who has since been arrested by police, is alleged to have struck the deceased woman identified as Nyarai Kadonzva with a hoe before attempting to commit suicide by drinking a cleaning detergent.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening and the juvenile allegedly spent two days with the body in the house without alerting anyone.

The boy explained that he struck Nyarai Kadonzva on the head with a hoe several times after she had accused him of stealing a memory card and a tools box. He then hauled the body from the lounge to the toilet where he removed her blood tainted clothes and placed them in a plastic bag and leaving the deceased in a pool of blood.
Neighbours said on Sunday evening they heard a sharp scream which quickly subsided at about 11 pm. The following day when the neighbours tried to find out what could have happened, the boy refused to open the doors.
The boy was staying with the maid as his parents are in Mozambique where they are working.
